Interview about the project “Philips OneBlade”
Mokki Click & Change
Mokki is an Oslo-based Norwegian manufacturer of sunglasses. The company was founded over 31 years ago by Moshe Ohana, who had been backpacking in Norway at that time and decided to settle there to create sunglasses that are inspired by the Norwegian lifestyle and combine contemporary Nordic design with top-notch eye protection and non-compromising quality. The brand rapidly won local recognition that allowed it to expand into new markets. One of these expansions included launching the Mokki Click & Change sub-brand in 2019, a name under which special sunglasses for children are developed and sold.
The Click & Change eyewear models were developed together with children and are marked by a particularly flexible, child-friendly design. Targeted at different age groups, each model is sold in colour-coordinated packs of two – that is, one pair of sunglasses for protecting against normal sunlight and a second pair for protecting against the strong reflected UV light common in a Nordic winter. They are complemented by extra temples, as well as head and neck straps that can be flexibly clicked onto the glasses’ rims and thus interchanged easily. The accessories can also be combined in various colours so that the sunglasses can be customised individually. Every package includes a glasses cleaning cloth featuring an animal head, with the aim of making cleaning the glasses fun for children.
Addressing a new and younger target group required adjusting the brand identity, including the expansion of the brand’s colour palette – the predominantly black and white appearance was therefore supplemented with cheerful colours. The word mark consists of the established but now more closely spaced Mokki lettering with the two interlaced Ks, enhanced by the “Click & Change” subline. The double K also acts as a brand identifier on the children’s glasses products. The entire brand identity of Mokki Click & Change is characterised by a combination of playful elements on the one hand and a purist aesthetic on the other. Many of their advertisements, for instance, focus on children wearing sunglasses, all set against a brightly coloured background, while the product films make use of stop-motion technology, which is as playful as it is simple. This results in a coherent appearance across all media, conveying the pure joy of living and appealing to both parents and children alike.
