Butterfly-Go

Weiqi (Go) is an abstract strategy board game for two players popular in East Asia. The game is played with 360 black and white playing pieces on a board measuring 49 x 46 cm. Butterfly-Go aims to make the game more portable by taking inspiration from a butterfly’s wings. Butterfly-Go has no loose pieces as it integrates the Go pieces and the playing board. Each Butterfly-Go playing piece is like a butterfly’s wings as its front side is grey – the same as the Go board, and its ‘wings’ can be folded either way to represent a black or white playing piece. The wings have built-in magnets so it can be secured to the board.
