The Andreas Oster Weinkellerei – a 400-year old family-run business, wine merchant and professional bottling company – ranks among the leading major winemakers in Germany with an international portfolio. The standard range they offer is being showcased for the first time in a detailed catalogue, with each growing region being presented individually and the most distinctive grape varieties shown respectively as mock-ups. The individual wine families are also clearly presented in a kind of trip to the wine-growing regions around the world. Particular focus has been placed on the label series, which represents the affiliation of the individual wines to the winemaker’s standard range and presents their individuality in detail using the respective grape variety. The design language of the labels is continued on the catalogue pages in the background as a design element, so that each double page reflects the winery’s love for the quality of its products. Running titles provide information about the respective wine-growing region.
Statement by the Jury
The catalogue for the Andreas Oster Weinkellerei convinces with an implementation that is unusual for a winery, as well as fine graphic details that are also reflected in the uniquely evocative visual language and the high sensitivity projected by the typography. A stringent graphic concept harmoniously integrates the design of the labels and fascinates with its overall independent and self-reliant appearance.
