Illustrations
An-Fang
The Taiwanese religious ceremony of An-Fang is addressed in these richly detailed illustrations. Fine, bronze-coloured illustrations against a jet-black background capture the Taoist gods and the tradition and rituals behind the celebrations. The colours and execution create a mysterious, mystical atmosphere, which captivates the viewer and draws them into the events depicted. The production process combined modern technology with tradition: ten illustrations, created using technical drawing pens, have been scanned at a high resolution, digitally coloured, printed on rice paper and then mounted in the style of a traditional Taoist scroll.
