Winter Universiade 2019

The event design for the games of the 29th Winter Universiade 2019 in Krasnoyarsk, Russia, combines the principle of harsh Siberian nature with that of the “warmth of human hearts”. The graphics symbolise both movement in sports and the dynamic elements of Siberian nature, such as wind, ice and the powerful Yenisey river. The goal was a unique experience encompassing identity, the mascot U-Laika, uniforms, small architectural forms, the Universiade cauldron, torch and awarding ceremonies, all imbued by attributes that had been developed as part of the unified concept “Real Winter”. The medals were made of innovative aluminium alloy with precious metals in combination with Swarovski crystals.
