Pinocchio and his Friends
This paper straw packaging uses a generous portion of irony to communicate the brand message. Lettering claims that plastic is harmless and suggests that consumers should limit their use of paper straws. All the while, the illustrations tell a different story. They centre on famous children’s character Pinocchio, whose nose grows in length when he tells a lie, as well as on creatures suffering from plastic pollution. An additional level is created by the package opening: the straws become a three-dimensional extension of the illustrations, reaching out to the consumer.
