PHA HEAD-UP Toothbrush

The PHA Head-Up Toothbrush is an eco-friendly toothbrush that uses plant-based materials in a minimal manner. PHA is a material formed by the fermentation of microorganisms, and will quickly decompose and become food for microorganisms when discarded under industrial compost conditions. Even when incinerated, the material emits no dioxin. One of the toothbrush’s key design features is its raised brush head (at an 8° angle), which allows the toothbrush to stay dry, hygienic, and bacteria-free even when resting on a surface. This eliminates the need for a toothbrush holder, resulting in even less waste. When the user holds the toothbrush, the angle of the toothbrush handle is designed to naturally sit with the folds of the fingers, improving grip and stability. Shrinkage during production is common due to the nature of the PHA material. To address this issue, the front of the toothbrush handle is designed with a concave shape, ensuring that even if shrinkage occurs, it creates an intentional unique design feature. This can significantly reduce the defect rate during production, resulting in less waste. When compared to conventional fully-filled toothbrushes, this eco toothbrush reduces waste during the manufacturing stage by 3-4g weight reduction per piece.
