Soundscape
Hyundai Olympic Pavilion
On occasion of the Olympic Winter Games 2018 in South Korea, Hyundai created a pavilion focused on the topic of fuel cell technology to attract international attention. The aim was to make the visit to the pavilion an impressive experience by means of acoustic dramatisations. In order to do this, soundscapes were installed in all spaces: for the “electrical energy chamber”, the illusion of an eternally increasing sound was created, which symbolises the charging of a car battery. Using waveform synthesis, a piano sound was merged with the sound of the wind to create an ethereal sound which represents the endless vastness of space. Underwater recordings, made with a hydrophone, reflect the sound atmosphere under water.
