Cultivating visual awareness

The topic of sustainability occupies young designers all over the world: this generation of designers wants to raise awareness by translating problems visually and making them understandable. The same goes for Zhuo-Rong Li, Yu-Lun Chen, Dai-Jin Li, Hsin-Ning Kuo and Jing-Xiu Hu, who study at Ling Tung University and are devoted to rendering the microplastics in our food three-dimensionally.

PLASTIC IN OUR FOOD

With this work, the students dealt intensively with the problem of microplastics in the environment. Using vivid 3D objects, they highlight the plastic particles in our food in a drastic but at the same time very aesthetic manner.

PLASTIC IN OUR FOOD

According to statistics from the United Nations Environment Programme, up to 8 million tonnes of plastic waste end up in the sea every year. But it is also widespread in the soil on land and can even end up in the food we eat. This design visualises the microplastics in a total of 20 types of food: The square outer shell is designed to deviate from the irregular shape of the original food and is combined with the appearance of the food itself.
