The Artists Garden Artists Commune

The Museum Apartment located in the Artists’ Garden is called Artists Commune. It’s so called because of the vision to gather artists and art lovers together, to form an art commune and to bring art to life. Museum Apartment is the first condo architecture designed by French architect Jean Nouvel in China. The 72 apartments are scattered in a garden which has 75% greening rate. The Museum Apartment, Artists’ Studio, and the Children and Youth Art Experience Base form a semi-enclosed garden facing the sea. Jean Nouvel undertook the conceptualisation, architectural design, interior architecture and even furniture design. At the same time, the French national landscape designer, Gilles Clement, and the botanist of French Academy of Sciences, Patrick Blanc, collaborated to create this one-of-a-kind apartment building. The 72 apartments are installed with direct elevator access. The freely adjustable wooden louvers of the south-facing facade and the honeycombed terraces facing the street are surrounded by translucent brick facades to create a distinctive and elegant sense of privacy. The general porosity of the architectural design brings about rich and engaging energy. Residents will share the art resources of an art museum and an art hotel in the Artists’ Garden. It is a unique experience of art, lifestyle and architecture. Red Dot Award: Design Concept | Ready to Launch | Habitat
