Mandarin phonetic symbols are used in this specific form only in Taiwan and are part of the unique charm of this country; they are a remarkable cultural treasure and part of the national identity. The design of the poster “Taiwan’s Charm” visualises this by placing the beauty of these symbols centre stage. The 37 Mandarin phonetic symbols were intentionally arranged to form the geographic shape and outline of the country of Taiwan.
