The complete renovation and redesign of the permanent exhibition of the German Mining Museum in Bochum, Germany, presents four thematic tours that connect the general history of mining with that of the Ruhr region. The tours “Hard Coal”, “Mining”, “Mineral Resources” and “Art and Culture” each have their individual dramaturgy, scenography and specially developed colour coding. The 8,000 sqm of exhibition space combines traditional museum design with a contemporary take on interactive communication.
