Build Fender

The natural environment is suffering because of the rapid development of cities, infrastructure, housing and fast building technology. BUILD FENDER is inspired by how biological cells work together to clean and sustain a system. This concept thus imagines different 'cell components' in a building that have different functions and effects. When combined, they create a building that works around-the-clock like a living ecosystem. These 'cell components' in the building manage all the coming in and going out of waste materials and resources. Any pollutants to be managed and processed are limited within the ecosystem of the building. In the process, the building also purifies and protects its surrounding environment. Transportation exhaust will be collected by a fan system incorporated into a hollow columnar structure in the building. This fan system will distribute gas to different components of the building system to be purified by algae. Clean and fresh air will be discharged outwards into the environment via an opening at the top to achieve air cycling. Electric lines and water pipes are equipped within the walls to collect and transport rainwater and domestic wastewater to each algae pond. Generated electricity will be transmitted to each floor by these lines. This is how BUILD FENDER works to purify its own pollution. Red Dot Award: Design Concept | Concept | Habitat
